    Introduction

    The Chief Architect, Department of Architecture, Haryana, is the Professional as well as Administrative Head of the Department and is responsible to the Administrative Secretary, IAS, to Govt. of Haryana, PWD(B&R) & Architecture Department. The Chief Architect, Haryana, is also nominated by State Government as representative in the Council of Architecture, New Delhi which is a statutory body constituted by Central Government for the purpose of enforcing the Architect Act, 1972. Chief Architect is also ex-officio member of the Board of Directors of Boards/Corporations i.e. Haryana Tourism Corporation, Haryana Police Housing Corporation, Haryana Housing Board and Kurukshetra Development Board etc.

    The Chief Architect along with his team supervises concept designs, issue instructions/advices on designs, outlines all specifications to accompany the concept designs, coordinates with User Departments and PWD(B&R) Department for approvals and Engineering Services respectively. Chief Architect is also responsible for smooth functioning of all the works and duties of the department. In the discharge of duties, the Chief Architect is assisted by Senior Architects, Architects, Assistant Architects besides other Gazetted and Non Gazetted Technical, Ministerial and Class IV Staff.
